For your consideration is this MASSIVE 140 million year old fossil Ammonite bowl from Madagascar. The organic matter of this ancient ammonite has been replaced by dendritic agate and chalcedony. There are little bits of electric rainbow iridescence on this pieces and stunning dendritic patterns. This huge ammonite fossil bowl measures a whopping 10.5 inches long and weighs 7 pounds.
This one is sorta natural, like 90% or more- it looks like the large ammonite fossil was damaged sometime during the last 140 million years, so the person who made this bowl put parts of it back together and also added a different, smaller ammonite to the center to complete it (I'm assuming). I could be wrong as I am not an expert, in which case you could be getting a super deal as I priced this bowl accordingly. This practice is actually quite common, even in museums, as finding perfect perfect prehistoric fossils is extremely rare. But most of this guy is intact. It also fluoresces under UV light, as all ammonites do. Super cool!!!
These stunning bowls make for fabulous displays, alter tools, soap dishes, smudge pots, ordering bowls, what have you.
