It was manufactured by the renowned Aynsley pottery of England specifically as a souvenir for the Wembley Exhibition in London. Both the cup and saucer retain their original maker’s marks on the underside.
The interior of the cup is decorated with images of playing cards, allowing the user to combine the arts of cartomancy (fortune telling with cards) and tasseomancy (tea leaf reading).
